Starsmith Idle Beginner Guide - Your First Hours at the Anvil
A beginner guide to Starsmith Idle: tap the anvil for coins, buy forges and hammers, read the screen tabs, catch meteor ore and let idle income run while away.
How do you start playing Starsmith Idle?
You start by tapping the anvil — the game’s own tutorial line is “Tap or click the anvil to forge coins and heat up the forge.” Every tap produces coins, coins buy upgrades, and upgrades produce more coins. That single loop is the whole game; everything else (gear, expeditions, prestige) hangs off it.
The game is a portrait-orientation HTML5 title, free to play on CrazyGames in a desktop or mobile browser or through the CrazyGames app. It launched on August 19, 2026, and sits in the Clicker / Incremental category. No download exists outside that platform — the developer, Mirabilis, has released nothing on Steam or the app stores (verified against both stores’ search APIs on 2026-08-31).
What do you buy first with your coins?
The official description names the two early purchases: bigger forges and sharper hammers. Their jobs are complementary:
| Purchase | What it does | Why it matters early |
|---|---|---|
| Bigger forges | Raise your passive output | Income keeps flowing while you are away |
| Sharper hammers | Raise your per-tap output | Every manual tap pays more |
Early on, alternate between the two. Taps pay immediately, which makes hammers feel stronger, but forges are what earn while the tab is closed — and the game explicitly advertises “idle income that keeps earning while you’re away” as a key feature (the full mechanics are in our offline earnings page).
What do the on-screen tabs do?
The official “How to Play” is one line — “Use the on-screen tabs to build and upgrade forges, craft gear, and send expeditions” — which conveniently doubles as a map of the game’s structure:
- Forge building/upgrading — the coin engine you have been feeding since minute one.
- Gear crafting — smelt ore into equipment; the game tracks 72 pieces of legendary gear across 18 series (covered in gear crafting).
- Expeditions — send parties into dungeons for materials, relics and battle tales (covered in expeditions).
Exactly what each tab unlocks and when is not documented in official text — the systems reveal themselves as your forge grows. If a tab is greyed out, the honest answer is “keep producing”; published unlock orders do not exist yet.
What is meteor ore?
While you play, meteor ore falls across the screen, and tapping it earns bonus rewards. It is the game’s designated active-play bonus: a reason to keep one eye on the screen even when your per-tap income is no longer the main engine. No published numbers describe the bonus size or frequency — treat every guide that quotes exact meteor values as invented.
When does the game open up?
The confirmed milestone systems, in the order the official text introduces them:
- FORGE RUSH — chain your taps with the right rhythm to send output soaring (see FORGE RUSH explained).
- Gear crafting — 72 legendary pieces across 18 series give the mid-game a collection goal.
- Expeditions — dungeons add materials, relics and battle tales on top of forge income.
- Succession — the prestige layer: reset the forge, earn Renown, climb back faster (see Succession).
That is the entire confirmed arc. What nobody can tell you yet — because no community data exists — is optimal upgrade orders, reset timing or build priorities. This wiki deliberately leaves those pages unwritten until real data shows up.
Is there a wiki or strategy guide I should read alongside?
You are reading it — and honesty compels the note that this game is weeks old as of this writing. Community strategy content does not exist yet; every claim on this site traces to the official game pages, and gaps are marked as gaps.
Do I need an account to play?
The CrazyGames listing handles saves through the platform; no separate studio account exists — the developer runs no public services beyond the game itself. The third-party aggregator note about CloudPlay cloud saves is unconfirmed for the CrazyGames build.
Next steps: learn the FORGE RUSH combo, then map the full loop in gear crafting and expeditions.
